A 16" necklace made up of a small teardrop pendant textured from an oyster shell with a figaro chain. The pendant measures 15mm by 18mm. Pendant is sterling silver plated in 24k gold, chain is solid 9k gold.
THE AMA COLLECTION. The collection is inspired by the ancient tradition of Ama Pearl Divers in Japan. Ama, means ‘woman of the sea’ and is recorded as early as AD 750 in the oldest Japanese anthology of poetry, the Man’yoshu. The fascination with these incredible women inspired 17 pieces of jewellery which honour their culture and environment, taking inspiration from their natural as well as man made-world. These organic pieces in the collection represent their innate and beautiful connection to their surroundings and natural environment.
