When the PLAY line was launched in 2002, the red heart with a set of eyes was described by the label as "a sign, a symbol, a feeling." The now-iconic, forever part of pop-culture logo was designed by Polish artist Filip Pagowski. Originally submitted for another collaboration with Rei Kawakubo in the 1980’s, it was not until 20 years later that it became the symbol of Comme des Garçon’s PLAY collection.

For Spring ‘18, the PLAY tee design uses Pagowski’s hearts in various ways - from multiple applique patches, screen printing, new color combinations featuring the red, black, lavender, and green hearts.
