THE AMA COLLECTION. The collection is inspired by the ancient tradition of Ama Pearl Divers in Japan. Ama, means ‘woman of the sea’ and is recorded as early as AD 750 in the oldest Japanese anthology of poetry, the Man’yoshu. The fascination with these incredible women inspired 17 pieces of jewellery which honour their culture and environment, taking inspiration from their natural as well as man-made world. This ring brings together the classic masculine signet ring with the organic feminine texture of the oyster shell, representing the wonderful balance of both feminine and masculine qualities the Ama women hold.
